Its the frequency in the middle, between high and low. Yes 2 way have midrange but its handled by the woofer.
This is an old thread but whatever. There are further complications in the crossover construction of a three way speaker, although not really complications as such as most older speakers had to be designed with three transducers because of their limitations, more like complex.
