12 gauge speaker wire???

Currently I'm using 12 gauge Stinger speaker wire with my Rega Brio 3 amp and 150W bookshelf speakers. Despite reviewers saying that the Rega doesn't produce a deep enough bass, I found my speakers having incredible clean and powerful bass in dance and jazz music. Would thinner Chord SS wire improve the sound more?

If it sounds good, why mess with it? Especially a cable upgrade which is unlikely to make a substantial difference to your system (whether positively or negatively).
