11.2 receivers available?

Hi
Just wondering if there are any 11.2 receivers out there, so I can take full advantage of Dolby Atmos, that also have Audyssey and DSD playback (these are non negotiable).

Thanks in prior for advice.

A Marantz SR7009 has Audyssey, DSD + Atmos and 11.2 pre-outs - so with an attached stereo/power amp would give you full fat 7.2.4 Atmos on a pretty lean budget. Which is what bigboss is doing.

It's a very nice amp.

Thanks for advice, but I am after a one box solution.
In other words, it must have 11 amp channels on board.

Yes, BigBoss, I did see the Onkyo and would be a natural choice as I love my coming up to 8 year old Onkyo 805.
However, no Audyssey.

The new Sony specs look interesting.

DSD streaming up to 5.6MHz.

However, no sign of 11.2 model yet.

Thanks, bigboss. Truth be told, the spec is far more important to me than the brand.
As long as it's not a dog in operation.
I can't see performance being an issue for any receiver of this spec, as it would be one of the flagship models for any brand.

Sorry bigboss but as long as you give any av amp enough space above it, then even if if runs hot ( as all Onyko's do apparently) then everything will be ok, I have a 818 which even after over 12 hours use for music, films and normal tv is only slightly warm to the touch when I put my hand on top of it, probably down to the fact its on top of my equipment rack.

You should see my home cinema pics and see how much space I've got for my AV receiver. The Onkyo will get fried. :)

Yes, as soon as the 2007 models came out that made Onkyo a household name for AV receivers, they were famous for their reputation as auxiliary room heaters.

Alas, the answer to your question seems to be, for the present, no. There are those that do Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 and Audyssey, but only with a separate stereo amplifier. I have a Denon AVR-4810 receiver, which does 11.2, but only with an old, but quite decent, Sony stereo amplifier. And it doesn't do Atmos!

Looks like a wait until next year's electronics. Of course, if you could be persuaded towards a two-box solution ......

without question the best and only avr i`d recommend at this stage of the proceedings is the Denon X7200 its just a fantastic piece of kit but you`d still need a separate 2 channel amp for 11 channel

but it will give you Dolby Atmos, Auro 3D if you wanted it, and DTS-X and the what everyone wants and I don`t know why HDCP 2.2 as well as Audyssey Platinum

i think its impossible to beat this spec atm and it doesn`t sound too bad either

Like New York City, the Denon AVR-X7200W is so good that Allan posted twice! *acute*

Review link below, and read the comments as well afterwards (click on the Discussion tab), including from Allan at comments 8 and 71.

Looks like I'm in for a wait, with Sony the front runners due to great specs.

Wonder if they will bring an 11 channel receiver.

if you are waiting for sony to bring out a 11ch amp as according to their own website, their new current top of the range model only does 7.2 and doesn't even decode Dolby atmos.

My mistake. The models announced will not have atmos support.....http://www.whathifi.com/news/sony-announces-2015-av-receivers-and-soundbars

Gosh... I can only imagine the level of compromise involved squeezing 11 channels of amplification inside of a one-box solution. Yikes! Also, the question is - can one even run Audyssey on a full 11.1-channel set-up? I was under the impression the current Audyssey have limits there.

^ That's good then!

I've seen people claim elsewhere that this amount of channel-count required more DSP processing power than what is currently available on the market today (for receivers at least) and that Audyssey wasn't equipped to handle the added number of channels. I guess one should be able to run a full Pro-calibration too then for all 11.1 channels?

Gosh. No Dolby Atmos, no DTS:X, and only 7.2 channels. Terrific.

Funky Monkey, you really will have to re-think your strategy, or it could be a long, long wait. It seems that at the moment, and since new models are quite new still for at least another year, you can have your one-box solution with the Onkyo TX-NR3030, or you can have Audyssey and Dolby Atmos with Marantz and Denon, but you will have to have a two-box solution with an extra (not necessarily top-quality) stereo amplifier.

Onkyo TX-NR3030, but it does weigh 22kg and costs £2,500, for instance at Peter Tyson.

Yes, as bigboss says, I run Audyssey on 11.1 channels, since the year 2010 in fact. The only comment that I would make is that I find that Audyssey is quite accurate at measuring speaker distances and sizes, but on speaker levels (how much to send to each speaker) it's not accurate, in my room at least, for the centre channel and the subwoofer, though it is accurate for all the other ten speakers. I find that I have to increase the centre channel by about 5dB, and reduce the subwoofer channel by about 3dB, from the levels that the Audyssey calibration suggests.
