Not really sure what the differnece is between the 2 resolutions above. I have the Pinoeer PDP436XDE and when I had my brothers PS3 connected up to it, playing the Golden Compass, or upscaling other DVDs, the set displayed 1125I and not 1080p. Is this right? or should it be at 1080p?

I just had a quick search, 1125i is essentially 1080i on a screen working at 50/60hz. So, yes, 1080p is the way forward, that's of course if your screen can do 1080p.

Some displays report the total number of lines in a signal (in this case 1125) rather than just the active video portion (1080). Pioneer TVs used to describe 576 as 625 and 480 as 525 and 720 as 750! Confused people so I notice they now don't!
