Greetings to all members from Athens/Greece
I need help choosing the right amp for the "Xavian Unica" speakers that i am about to purchase very soon.
Because i will buy these speakers directly from Xavian Audio, it is not possible to listen to them in a store with amplifiers, so I will need your help to choose the best amplifier for these speakers and of course according to my budget.
First of all i want to say that my room is small 130 sq ft and i listen nearfield aprox 4,9 feet.
I listen mostly in low to moderate volumes and my music taste is 70s-80s rock, soul, funk.
The system will be connected to my pc and at the beginning i will use as a dac my audio interface Audient id4 mk2 or if the amp has good onboard dac i will use this.
One more thing that i want to notice is that this will be my first hifi system, the last 25 years i listen to music through studio monitors.
I do not like very warm sound that make you sleep, i do not like very forward lively sound that "break" your ears.
After some research and also according my budget (under 2200 euro) i end up in these amp models:
"Exposure 2510" , "Hegel H120" , "Rega Elex MK4 , "Atoll IN200".
Please help choose the right amplifier.
Thank you all!!!

Hi, not sure why the Exposure is on your list as it doesn't have an inbuilt DAC although it does have a phono stage which it sounds like you will not be using.....
No headphone socket either.
Do you need a headphone output?
The Atoll also does not come with a dac as standard (optional card adds to the price)
More information needed about what you expect from an amplifier apart from power.
Those speakers are relatively efficient so huge power output is not really necessary.

You like the same music and neutrality as I do - and you even sit at the same distance from your speakers.

A Cyrus amp into PMC standmounts works well for me.
Though I've been trying various different standmount and floorstanding speakers in the the last week, mostly with the same amp.....and that's what leads me to say that, without question, it's how those speakers of yours sound that will be crucial.

OP can get an excellent Atoll bargain on eBay, if he doesn't mind second hand or open box. Below is worth checking out, same as mine, has the DAC option. I'm sure he'll find suitably priced IN200. All their integrated amps have headphone socket.

Beautiful amp with excellent sound quality 🙂

You may want to consider Rotel RA1572MKII or even the 1592 if you accept buying 2nd hand.
In terms of inbuilt DACs in those Rotel, they´re good although I prefer the one in the MKI versions as they play native DSD, which is not the case with the MKIIs

In terms of power, both exceed specs.

Anything else you may want to connect in the future and you did state " if the amp has a good onboard dac".
Therefore no point in paying for an inbuilt phono stage if you're not going to use it.....

The Hegel is the only one I have experience of, and it is excellent. In that company, I would also consider the Audiolab 9000A.

Realistically, they are all good amps, they all have the specs you need, buying blind is always something of a crapshoot. However, your room and speakers will have more impact on the sound than the amp. Whatever you choose should be decent.
