I was under the impression that there isn't much of a jump up from what i already have whereas the others are.
The yamaha is just over half price at 525 and the denon at 500ish seemed good deals my dealer has suggested the pioneer lx52 but i got the feeling he was just pioneer pioneer pioneer if you know what i mean.
Just don't know what one to get so i thought i'd ask the question as i could do with some advice off people who know more than me, budget is 600 tops.

Hi Stu

I upgraded at the start of this year to the Denon 2310. it really is a fantastic piece of kit and well worth all the awards it received. Think i paid almost 800 for it at the time so if you can get it within your budget, you wont be disapointed.

Sorry i'll rephrase what i meant to say was its still essentially a sub £500 amp and after reading many threads new and old I was just under the impression that the denon and yamaha were a definate "level up" over what i presently own more so than the onkyo 608.

Ok so for a £600 budget if the choice was between a Denon AVR-2310, Yamaha RX-V2065, Onkyo 608
and a Pioneer LX52 with my set up what would you choose?

Denon 2310 is a step up from the Onkyo 608 and for price if you dont want 3d is a snatch! what do you currently have?

Onkyo 606 just not convinced im getting everything possible out of my speakers....... and the fact i've just sold the 606 for £150 today means i need a new one !

The old 606 was all grunt and no finesse, compared with the Denon 2310.......

The Denon was voted best receiver for under £1000 last year.......for movies. Isn't that enough for you stu31?

Saying that, the new Onkyo 608 is a completely different beast to the 606. ....finesse has been added...according to the reviews...so if you want 3D in the future, and like the onkyo sound but with more detail and 'quality', it might be a good one too......

To be honest pete im stuck between the denon and the yamaha online forums seem to suggest the yamaha is more on a par with the denon 3310 not the 2310, meaning the yamaha is the superior machine over the 2310, it was the v1900's replacement.
Guess i'm just being a bit cautious before i make my mind up either way as i dont want to pick the wrong one.

Just read a user review on both. This guy took both home and decided which one was best....

Conclusion was that if both were the same price, it would be a tough decision. The Denon was very refined, but the Yamaha was 'tough' sounding??? The Yamaha had more features too.

But as the Yamaha was cheaper, he went for that over the Denon AVR3310.....

Well the Yamaha did retail at over £1100....

so I bet it's a good machine, and if it's as good as the old 1900, I'd get it!!!!

Does seem a steal at £525 but so does then denon at 550

well if you can get the rxv2065 for your budget of £600 then that looks the ticket, it appears to be in the same class as the 3310, and should drive your speakers to their maximum potential, what more do you need unless you're planning a future speaker upgrade?

edit.. £525

, thats a steal...

it has surpassed my expectations stu, motion is perfect, no blurring or judder, better than both my old g10 and v20's..

sd is also very good, better than the g10, but not as good as the v20, close though..

hd is lovely, sharp, punchy, detailed, very clean, better than the g10, but not as good as the v20 which was simply sensational..

the black depth and shadow detail is similar to the g10, but way behind the v20, especially in the daytime, still good enough, but the v20 had exceptional dynamism in dark scenes..

for the money its fantastic, if i had paid 50% more for it id still have thought id got a bargain, its a great set, im very pleased i got rid of the v20 and got this, i can maybe look at a high end plasma next year now, and will probably only lose a few hundred on the lg when selling
