I would like to change the oil on my Michell gyrodec for the first time. The Michell instructions suggest cleaning out the bearing with lighter fluid before putting new oil in.. I can’t find lighter fluid locally. Is there anything else I could use, for example, ethanol or isopropanol?

The Cantorion stuff was sold by a Dr Charles, from Aberystwyth I believe. The fluid was fabulous and left my records in better shape than anything I have tried since, including vacuum cleaning with a VPI. Grahams hifi in London used to sell it back in the eighties but dont have any left...

I have decided to get a new arm for my gyrose to accomodate my shelter 501 cartridge. Narrowed it down to a michell tecnoarm or an SME M2. Anyone heard the shelter in either of these two arms? I am leaning slightly towards the sme but worried about its low mass since the shelter is low compliance.
