    Home Cinema/stereo music choice

I would say have a listen to the Anthem. If you want 5.1 look at the 310 if you want 7.1 the 510. Then find a good 3/5 channel power amp from the likes of ATI. I can't comment on the speakers other than Sub/sat is my preferred choice. Either MK or KK. These can be bought in stages. Save for a...

    Cinema Loft Conversion

Looking good Duaplex. Are you still going ahead with the MPS300's? I'm waiting for mine to come off the production line. Put the S300T's up last week and love them.

I don't think its punchy at all. The BK subs cannot be beaten for the cost by anyone. your 400 sounds great but if you replaced it with one of the ones I listed it will be a massive improvement as I know you will take the time to calibrate it properly. Yes a crap room can have an adverse effect

If you have correctly set up a monolith it will sound good. If you correctly set up any of the following subs correctly it will trash the monolith in all areas. KK 808,12012 Paradigm Sub 12,15,Sub1/2 JL Fathoms/Gothams the list goes on. But as you have been told set your sub up properly first.

You have been given some good advice. Moving to floorstanders will be a mistake and it may well introduce many other issues. It is also a complete miss truth spouted by the Hifi brigade that subs don't work with stereo. Using a sub sat system is a far more flexible option, that when...

Pioneer LX57 vs Pioneer LX86 vs Arcam AVR 400 vs Anthem MRX 500

For music a pair of LS50's partnered with a KK DXD 808 sub and you will be in heaven.

Pioneer LX57 vs Pioneer LX86 vs Arcam AVR 400 vs Anthem MRX 500

I replaced my Arcam AVR 500 with an Anthem MRX 300. In my room it out performed the Arcam in every respect. Much of this had to do with the room EQ. I'm waiting to take delivery of an MRX 510 which will replace the 300 as a pre/pro. It has a far more powerful room EQ and many enhancements.

    Reports of an Oppo 103d?

I was tempted, and it looks very good, but I just ordered the vanilla 103 and put the extra £ into having it region free,as sick of waiting for UK release blu rays.

Paradigm pdr 10 series set up suggestions

If your receiver has sub cross over settings use these. Take the subs cross over out of the equation by turning it to maximum or bypass. If it has a phase control set to 0. Turn the subs gain to approx 10 o'clock position.

    Cables (again!)

The Arcam AVR 500 is a fantastic receiver, when it works, I used to own one. There is nothing wrong with using it with the Radius in a small room. Yes it would be better paired with something like the Apex, but as you say needs must. I used to run the Radius range and they are great speakers ...

    Best 5.1 setup

I would suggest the Apex. A great sub/sat system will have far fewer issues with the listening room and provide a more flexable approach to optimising the bass. I would however recommend that you invest in a good sub and not the Apex AW12 sub as it's not the best value for money. I ran ran the...
