The Marantz is an ideal unit for your needs. With a simple aerial you can also get dab or FM radio as well.
Also later you could add some speakers.
I purchased one when I got back into HiFi and used it with some Monitor Audio speakers you will surprised at how good the sound quality is. When...
At the price point you will not find a better match IMO as I said I have both and am very satisfied. As a matter of interest I have MA RX6 speakers in my set up.
I would go for the Audio lab I have one with the Arc am A19 and it makes a great combo.
I have not had any of the issues given and I think you will find that most problems were a while ago.
I only ever play CDs on my Audiolab player, many years ago I only had LPs but then switched to CDs because of the better quality sound and ease of use.

What woud you guys reccomend for a smooth interconnect to use.
System is Audiolab 8200CD, Arcam FMJA19 Amplifier and Monitor Audio RX6 speakers.
Need a cable that will reduce sibilance as much as possible.
Speaker cables are Audioquest FLXSLIP4
Really need to keep the Audiolab as I use the onboard DAC for TV and Blu Ray Player etc.
But obviously could change speakers but are Kef R500s or B&W CM8s smoother at the top end.
Big H I do have a rug between speakers and seating.
I have an Arcam A19 with the RX6s and still finding some recordings too sibilant.
I have a laminate floor which probably does not help, source is an Audiolab 8200CDP
Trying to find out if CM8s or R500s are smoother
