After owning a number of expensive seperate DACs and still preferring a circa 92 CD player, I continue to use my ears and have not yet been 'blown away' with anything modern. I'd still favour a 90's Philips player over many current offerings. However, Marketing seems to do the trick for most.

Buy some Sony ES. Not that im biased! ;)

I've got a Quad FM4 which sounds sweet. 8 presets and no DAB. FM sound nicer anyhow.

I heard a full Linn Klimax system and it was the nicest system I've ever had the pleasure of hearing. Mind you, the 6 Klimax amps powering the B&W 802 Diamonds may have helped to bring the best out of the Klimax DS. Superb!

Personally I'd avoid the Rega and am inclined to agree with the Moon suggestion. The more power the better, IMO.

I currently run a Mac Mini with Audirvana and it's immense. Use the remote app from my phone and iPad. It really couldnt be easier. Ive got mine on 24/7 and always works flawlessly. Used to run a shuttle PC a couple of years back but would never go back.

I had an Arcam A28 with that same speaker and the sound was terrible. Once I changed the speakers the amp was wonderful. Maybe you'd have greater luck with the Rotel.

I still much prefer using CD's for a good listening session. IMO my Arcam is still better (to my tastes) and my Sony is on a different planet to my Mac Mini/DAC combos I've tried. I recently demoed a Benchmark DAC-1 with both players and didnt keep it. I dont think I'll be buying into 32bit...
