celestion ditton 15 or Wharfedale denton

The 600 range was the last Armstrong range. It was a long, low, quite sleek design. It ran from 1973 to around 1978. Generally well reviewd in the hifi press at the time.

celestion ditton 15 or Wharfedale denton

Hi Andrew The Celestion Ditton 15's were considered to be a step up from the Dentons, back in the 70's. They were more sophisticated in their design than the Dentons, having an Auxiliary Bass Radiator in addition to the 8 inch bass unit, and had a much better tweeter, giving a more extended...

question about a what hifi review

Back in the 90's I owned a Philips CD 930 CDPlayer which had been awarded 5 stars in a WHF review, with the summary saying ' Brings out all the underlying passion in the music'. 3 months later, it was down to 3 stars and was described as 'Dull and boring'. Needless to say I took all their...

    Returning items to the manufacturer

If it's under guarantee, why not return it to the dealer who should be responsible for sending it on to Leema. You shouldn't have to pay for delivery!

ROKSAN K2 Series Bi Amplified (Kandy K2 Integrated + K2 Power Amplifier)

I found that the addition of the K2 Power amp to form a bi amplified system with the K2 integrated, provides a bigger sound stage and greater depth to the bass response. My Mission 796's certainly benefit from the extra bass depth of the bi amplified system. I suppose it depends on your...

    Dull sounding system

I use a Musical Fidelity CD 3.2 player which definitely doesn't sound dull with my Roksan K2 amplifier. I would point the finger at the Marantz Pearl lite which has a rather laid back tonal quality. I would actually describe the Musical Fidelity as having an essentially neutral sound quality...

    Speakers to replace Mission 794.

I have the 796 speakers which can also be somewhat forthright in the mid range, but can also be absolutely stunning with vocals and small scale music. I found that reversing the speakers so that the side facing bass units fire outwards, rather than inwards, has opened up the bass and generally...

    HMV seperates

HMV were part of the Thorn Consumer Electronics group in the 1970's , as were Goodmans when they made superb loudspeakers and the Module series of receivers. The 4000 amp was made in England and sports DIN sockets and three UK style power outlets on the rear panel. I suspect they were made in...

K2 logo on my Roksan Kandy K2 amp. display never glows

Just take it back to the dealer for replacement. You shouldn't have to wait for a repair on anything faulty within a few days. Don't let this put you off though, as the K2 is a great amplifier.

    Tone controls

I think the whole 'no tone controls purist' debate is a load of twaddle. Back in the 60's it was considered acceptable for loudspeaker reviewers to use small amounts of bass boost when testing bookshelf speakers in order to achieve more realistic results from them. Then there is the fact...

    New Brio-r or used Roksan?

A previous comment about the K2 said 'good, err no'!

    New Brio-r or used Roksan?

What's wrong with the Roksan K2? It's a great amplifier, solid bass, detailed and involving sound. Also excellent build quality and plenty of inputs with a decent phono stage.

Would you ask for a replacement for a little dint in new speakers?

    Replacement, no doubt about it!
