Keep in mind that K7XX are hard to drive, so they need an amp. I prefer the analytical sound of AKG, but I will add to the list the Audio Technica ATH-AD900x.

Yeah, perhaps the right definition is "too smooth / soft sounding", like you said. It's like listening a big stereo, definetly more refined, but it doesn't seem a true Hi-Fi experience. During holidays I tried an other positioning and now works better with classical music, but with a soundtrack...
