Define 'rock'.

Are we are now discovering the problem with splitting by genre.

Motorhead Rock or Metal?

AC/DC Rock or Metal?

etc etc

Maybe it would be best to define the categories first. in fact, maybe categories and sub categories. For example, main category rock, sub categories swamp, folk, pro, creative, metal etc. Then there's fusion, rock and roll, etc. You might want to have rock ballads, too. it's a can of worms, really.

maybe set up a committee to classify each suggestion for a particular category - I mean, some bands like Jethro Tull crossed categories with abandon, as does Prince, Nick Cave etc

Genre's are a nightmare.

And it's fine to choose them in the genre you feel suits best...

For me, rock is anything from The Beatles to Guns n Roses.

When the crunching power chords hit, I count it as Metal. That's just me though :)

The reason for attempting to split them though is because "Top 10 albums" is simply too few.

Some people might need to do a top 10 Acid Trance, a top 10 Techno, a top 10 Indie Pop, a top 10 AOR , a top 10 Americana, a top 10 nu-metal, a top 10 Black Metal, a top 10 Grindcore, a ....you get the drift... :)

All is good and there are no incorrect answers. :)
