Hi NHL, can I suggest you might get a better response if this was re-posted in the DAC or Headphones sub-forum section.

Must say I like the quality of Hegel gear, particularly the amp I've heard, but cannot help with DACs as not my area of expertise.

When it comes to personal subjective tastes, I don't think one can really come up with a definitive ranking of USB DACs. Then there's the issue of what you compare it against. Just portable USB DACs like the Dragonfly or karger offerings in a similar price range that have USB connectivity as well as other options.
