is this any good as a basic receiver? also can you put speakers staright into the av reciever and run the subwoofer through the phone line input? will this effect the sound at all? Im new to all this so i searched for an av receiver with a dolby decoder is that right? sorry to be a pain thanks

For the money, and as a basic receiver, it's fine. It'll take a digital connection from a DVD player and give you surround sound from Dolby Digital soundtracks.

Yes, the speakers connect to the terminals on the rear, and there's a preamp-level output to feed a subwoofer with a low-level input.

thanks for that andrew, it is much appreciated, so just to make sure, i will be able to run my aego5 system into it, and my xbox360 and wii with the optical inputs?
