I purchased a Yamaha RX-V371 off Craigslist. When I turn it on everything lights up and it appears to be working, but no sound.
I tried headphones, as well as speakers...and nothing. I know very little about stereo equipment. I'm guessing it blew a fuse or something. Any ideas - suggestions?

Send it back?
No idea what Craiglist is by the way, however isn't the Yamaha an AV Receiver?

So many things it could be. If it lights up lets work on the principle it works.

I have just looked it up, it appears to be an AV receiver. It has a HDMI out, try connecting that that to your TV to see if there is some king of setup process.

There it has analogue (RCA) inputs too, try plugging a CD player into that.

There doesn't appear to be a knob to select source, I guess you do that with buttons n the front or a remote. Go through them all.

Finally, if it doesn't work and you buy something else. You use the term stereo, but have purchased a surround sound amp. While it can be used in stereo mode, you will get better value for money with a two channel amp. Also, if you are buying second hand, go somewhere that you can return it if faulty.

The user guide - especially any troubleshooting section, would probably help you.
If you didn't get one with it - find one online.
Thanks Gray. I appreciate our feedback and suggestions. I found the user guide online. I will have a look.

Yes, it is. Like I said, I know very little about these things.

What do you have connected (e.g., what speakers to which jacks). And what source are you using (tuner, TV, etc), and how is that source connected to the receiver?
