Hi everyone,

has anybody bought the new yamaha RXV2067 yet or even heard one?

Thinking of getting one but there not in stock at the local hifi shop yet?

I could buy online but would like a listen first.

Any opinions/info greatly received

Thanks

It is in my shortlist too. Though I think a more direct competitor to the VSX-2020 is the RX-V1067, at least price-wise. In fact, Pioneer has this huge gap between the 2020 and the LX73, which costs double as much, filled only by the LX53, which is simply a 2020 with a bluetooth dongle. The 2067 should be a notch above.

The Pioneer 73 is much more than just a 2020 with a bluetooth dongle.....better chassis and components.

You mean the LX53? Obviously I've never disassembled one (have you?) but it looks exactly the same as the 2020, has the same manual, and has been confirmed here and elsewhere that it is the same as the LX53 bar the bluetooth dongle.

I'm gonna indulge your laziness because I've read the specs so many
times trying to decide which one to get that I almost know them by
heart.

The 1067 is rated 105W per channel, has 17 DSP programs and 2 zones, while the 2067 is rated 130W per channel has 23 DSP programs and 3 zones. The 2067 can also drive 2 additional channels via external amplification, has a Burr-Brown PCM 1789 DAC, a VHD 1900 chipset (which the 3067 has too) and a new YPAO with Reflected Sound (the 1067 has a generic "new YPAO").

To me it's the sweet spot because it doesn't cost much more than the 1067 but has more features I like. The 3067 costs much more and it doesn't look so compelling to me.

The 2020 and LX53 have 100% identical specs.

Thanks giuliop, a comprehensive comparison, I too still cant decide 1067 or 2067, i think im going to have to go 2067 though because this amp is going to have to last me a long time, and if i get the 1067 i'll always be wondering what if i'd spent the extra.

When I said earlier that the 1067 and 2067 were similar in many respects, I was referring to them both being similar in quality and power, being based on each other. The 2067 does add quite a lot of extra features for the extra money. Even though the 1067 is very well specced for it's price point, I'd definitely recommend the 2067 if funds permit.

Big Aura:
Hi David - I dropped you an email earlier - not sure if you pick them up regularly or not...!

Hi Big Aura

We use an internal mailing system so I can only pick them up at work - it was my day off today so I've not had access to them. I'll get on it first thing in the morning

I have just upgraded from a Pioneer VSX-920 to the Yamaha RX-V1067, and the difference is night and day, it's an awesome machine.

I can imagine the 2067 is even more excellent. But the 1067 had all the features and power I needed.

Hi rick@musiccraft,

my other components are, B+W M1 speakers, with PV1 sub, Sony 40W4500 tv, Sony s350 blu ray, sony hdd, infocus in72 projector, qed component and hdmi cables silver anniversary speaker cable, its hard to get in the m1 speaker terminals) and yamaha ax620 amp, this I've had from new, and feel it is the weaker part of the system, no hdmi inputs/outputs, i have to keep swapping cables to watch blu ray through, tv or projector, i dont actually watch many films on the tv as surround sound is set up on a different wall for the projector, but would like the two hdmi outputs on rxv2067, im sure you can play through if not using it, i have never felt the centre speaker is giving loud enough dialogue even though ive adjusted it on the settings numerous times and then when the effects come in its too loud, for my taste, im hoping for a more refined control, and better dialogue, and add some front presence speakers. Before buying the ax620 amp i had a yamaha A1000 amp which was awesome front presence speakers the lot but only pro logic, made an error buying the cheaper dolby digital ax620 but funds were tight it is a good amp but just never sounded like the a1000.

Hi mull

I would also say the RX-V2067 would be your absolute minimum however i can't help but to feel that as you are fond of the DSP-A1000 and particularly if this is to be a long term purshase then (if budget allows) the extra quality of the RX-V3067 is ideally what you need to be aiming for. Either way both amps will offer you a significant upgrade with your speakers and electronics over the impressive DSP-AX620 (i've sold quite a few of these).

Hi Musicraft,

Thanks for your advice, do you think the m1 speakers are good enough for RX3067? not overkill? Im not sure funds will allow, but hey a few more hours overtime and you never know.
