Yamaha AS-500 hum

Hello,

I'm happy with my AS-500 amp, but noticed it has a slight hum when the power is on (from the amp unit, not the speakers). My assumption is the transformer is buzzing a little, but is this normal for this type of amp? Just wondering. Thanks!

I get really obsessed about hums from time to time. My Naim amp hums and it gets to me – especially as I have a dedicated ring main. However, the manual states it can happen and that it doesn't affect sound quality.

Humming from the speakers – now that's a whole new level of annoyance...

Can't say I've noticed it on my A-S500, but I have heard slight humming from most amps I've owned including NADs, Cambridge, and Naim so I wouldn't be overly concerned if I were you.
