I have just been given a G Box Midnight, fully programmed. The number of movies and tv programmes that can be streamed is incredible. What I want to know is it legal? I have Googled it but cannot find a definitive answer. Also how is it financed, there is no subscription and there are no adverts?

I have a similar android box. Cheaper but does not work well. I would like to know how u get on with this one. Doea it have wireless? Are all the regular channels available? Is it reliable? I wanted it for a bedroom tv mostly. Legal as far as I know - depends where the films originate I guess

Mine is connected by ethernet cable and home plug. I haven't fully explored it yet, but it seems to have regular channels, and of course channels from all over the world. It has a good range of adjustments, at first the lip sync was slightly out, but a simple tweak cured that.

Depends on which addons you are using!

I would recommend using an Ouya, they work seamlessly when running XBMC.

I know its a games console but you don't have to use that side of things, you can get the Ouya to boot straight into XBMC if preferred there's also a web browser. The only down side is the wireless is a little flakey and it is best hardwired.

ive got a recent android box operating with wi fi , works well streams faultlessly no stutter full HD when availiable, lots of dead streams about on there , my only complaint is its not broadcast in full dolby digital , pro logic at best but for free at times and the amount of good early movies on it i cant complain.

I still can't work out how it is financed, there is no subscription or adds. I always take the view that there is no such thing as a free lunch, so where is the catch?

XBMC is an open source non-profit, so the devs volunteer their time to develop it.

Many of the third party addons are developed by users, and most of the content available from those is pirated...
