Well tbh I didn't like the Apex at all, and did like the stereo Minx setup I heard, but people say such good things about the Apex that it feels like maybe you should persevere, though it's something only you could decide by listening to them side by side. Any chance that can happen?
Yes, i have them both at home. The apex is my current setup and i've had a while now. The Minx was new 4 days ago but i'm not convinced it's very open and as detailed as reviews say, the sub however, is bloody fantastic. I'm told the Min21 needs some 40-50hrs to properly sound as it should. Problem is, the Mrs is going nuts cos i have speakers everywhere so need to make a choice pretty quick.
If you have doubts which you say, your not convinced... then stick with the Apex, otherwise you will buy them on impulse because you are under pressure, then further down the line will regret it,maybe..just wait a while see how the reviews go and maybe try them later at a dealers if poss, they may sound completely different with another system other than marantz. Just a thought. 8)
TBH if you have both at home right now, you have all you need to test them side by side - no reviews, dealer demos or advice on this forum is going to come close to you performing a direct side by side comparison in your own listening space.
Just tell the Missus to shut her cake hole, and give them a thorough listening to. Bear in mind any speaker you home demo never sounds 'right' straight away because your brain just isn't used to listening to it. Give yourself a good few listening sessions to become accustomed to the sound differences and then make an informed decision!
