Wooden Speaker Stands

Does anybody use wooden speaker stands? Or better still has anybody been able to compare them to metal stands?

I am looking for stands right now and have noticed that there is a decent selection of custom made wooden stands going which look ok.

I have the Spendor SA1s with dedicated stands which appear to be wooden and they are excellent..............

They are bendy plastic I thought, with wooden inserts?

Nothing wrong with wooden sands per se, but they need to be a bit chunkier than steel so look a bit imposing IMO.

Nothing at all wrong with wooden stands, I've used a lot in the past, but they do need to be substantially built. This often makes them more expensive than their metal counterparts. The do look very good with some speakers and especially good if matched with a wooden rack.
