The flight into Helsinki across the archipelago is something everybody should do before they die. Though personally if I were heading for Japan I'd wonder what the hell I was doing in Helsinki.

Tis indeed a sight.As a student,I hitched from Grenoble to Helsinki and took the boat from Stockholm to Helsinki via Turku if I recall and the views are stunning especially as it was winter and parts of the sea were frozen with just a path cut through the ice.I did though prefer the flight later in life from a comfort point of view.
