Wireless headphone advice for old school CD guy

OK. AKG Y50BT headphones> MPOW transmitter >Technics CD player

I need the music to be louder. if you turn the headphone volume control up on the CD player it distorts between 7-10 and won't go up any louder on the cans

Do I need a preamp for this or something?

I do also have a wire, I assumed the activeness of the bluetooth would eliminate the need for that (and the resistance of the wire would make it worse anyway, right?)

omg just turned it all off and back on again and now the volume is about 400% louder

I guess this is why they say bluetooth never sounds as good as wired connection, how random

Seems like there's a massive gain kick coming from somewhere though, I'm guessing its the headphone amp built into the CD player headphone socket, starts to break up at like 30%
