Windows USB connected to DAC. Can adjust tone, etc?

I'm planning on connecting a media centre Windows PC via USB to a DAC (possibly an Arcam rDAC). I was wondering though, is it possible to adjust the bass/treble via windows? Also, even better could I hook up a software graphics Equaliser? I know most people would frown upon this, but I can see that there might be a need to tweak the sound of certain genres of songs, and/or tweak the sound to suit my room! Cheers

what playback software do you use? Some of them allow you to adjust the tone. Even Windows Media Player has a rudimentary graphic EQ, or at least it did last time I used a PC (with Windows XP).
