Will HDMI signal be better through AV?

I have a PS4 directly connected to TV, and then TV's sound is optical out to Onkyo 343. Just wondering if the HDMI signal (picture and sound wise) will be different if I connect PS4 to Onkyo then output to TV. Thanks.

Yes HDMI will be better. Optical cannot carry HD audio codecs like DTS-HD MA, Dolby True HD etc.
