Because people would smoke too much in a dimly lit room and then end up staring at those VU's for hours on end. Some peoples minds went numb, jobs were lost and lives were ruined.

VU meters are back. I've been waiting for years to see them again, i listen to my music with my eyes open so for me it is very important how the amplifier looks. The upcoming Yamaha AS-S2100 looks fantastic and will be priced around £1600, much less than that great looking AS-S3000 or Onkyo's power amp with massive VU.

Yes, still waiting for any WHF reviews of mentioned Yamaha products.?........

£1699 apparently for some shiny VU meters (available June)
