I have paid for the phillips one, its only 8000.00 on -line so good value.... NOT !!!

I might for games, but only if they were the same price as the current tv's would not pay more than 1000.00

I am intrigued, though a ways off from becoming enthused. Gaming would be cool, but I'm not convinced I'll ever want to wear the glasses. I don't require glasses of any sort thanks to being blessed with good eyes and can't really see myself wanting to come home and don a pair of specs for my evening entertainment.

I'm more excited about the new TVs with Skype built in than the 3D. Though I found the snippet that Panasonic recruited a whole load of the Kuro engineers and the new line of plasmas (that include 3D and skype) will be the first outing of the fruits of their labours. If the expectations that that announcement inherently ferments can be met with end results, perhaps that would be the line of screens to upgrade to at a later stage??? I'm not all that bothered about 3D but I guess if I was going to be buying a new telly at the end of this year (and I might do) it'd be nice to be future-proof right?

id defo wait and see how good 3d is , why buy this year and be a paying guinee pig in the 3d lab ?? its bound to evolve over a few years , and only then will there be decent choice of content, if i had spare cash for a.v. it would go on sound , which will be compatible with anything 3d , and so futureproofed , im gonna sit back and see what develops , and just enjoy my lovely plasma , i cant wait for the first 3d tv reviews , should start quite a few interesting threads on here

I won't be. I bought my last tv just over 6 months ago. It has a five year guarantee so I'll be sticking with that, and when I replace it, I will be doing so with a projector, not a tv, so therefore no 3d tv for me. However, whether or not the projector I buy, will be 3d capable, I don't know. It may be the standard, a few years down the line.

I have no real interest in 3d for now. I wasn't convinced by it when I saw Avatar because I found some things were out of focus a little, and the picture seemed darker with the glasses on. I am perfectly happy with regular content for now. I'll wait and see what happens, with interest, though, and the impact it has on gaming.

In any case, I don't see the point in it, unless it's on a really big screen. e.g. projector, or something like a 103" plasma.

I also found the glasses to be quite irritating.

Not me

I have just spent a small fortune this year upgrading my system for HD sound and blu ray

I dont intend to wear glasses for watching movies ,although I dont mind going to the cinema for the odd 3d movie

Also just another excuse for the industry to rip off the consumer with another version , theatrical release ,director cut , limited edition, Box set bla bla bla

It annoyes me already having to pay for bonuses , 2 discs ( Blu ray and normal dvd in the same case , whats that all about) when I only want one disc , digital copies , let those who want the extras pay a premium I only want to watch the bloody movie

I certainly wont be. I am informed the system relys on having pretty much 'equal' binocular vision and you still have to wear stupid glasses - one pair is enough for me thanks.

Nah.

I can't see that the experience will be all that good. I've seen 3d movies both at the IMAX and at normal sized cinemas - on the IMAX screen 3D looks amazing as the screen is so big and you can't see the edges - the images really seem to come out of the screen and surround you. 3D looks less impressive on a standard sized cinema screen where you can see the edges, and as such I can't imagine it being much good on a 40 - 50" screen in the living room.

Hope I'm proved wrong, but can't seeing it being a 'must have' in my house!

Nope, not me.

Bluray needs to be far more popular before 3D can take off. It pretty much needs to be standard.

It will be reminiscent of the time when people were rushing out buying HD Ready TV's to use with their 576i source components - just buying them because they thought they had to or because they were under some false impression that they were then going to get HD from their existing equipment.

After they've purchased their 3D TV to use with their PS3, Sky HD box and Nintendo Wii, they'll then find out how much it's really going to cost to get in on the 3D action - replacing their player, all their discs, again, having to wear a deep sea diver's helmet, and all for a blatantly layered '3D' picture reminiscent of.....

Yes, you remember owning one of those. How long did it hold your attention? Not long. In fact, it'd hold your attention longer now you're an adult if it was of use for something more of an "adult theme".......

Well, I was going to get a projector last year but decided to wait until I move. So I may well put this off now until a few 3D projectors are out and see what they're like.

TV though - no way Jose.

not many takers then, at least to start....so.....manufacturers take note. we aint interested. improve current tech first (eg. get blu rays to load faster so i dont finish my crisps BEFORE the bloomin film starts and make lcd sets that you can see properly from more than 5 degrees off centre

Nope not interested, I'll pick & choose one @ the pictures maybe. But just spent a small fortune over the last year on AV (still want a couple of items

But the projector would be the choice if and when I did go 3D

that's the point tho - we are exactly the sort of people they expect to spend huuuuge sums on beta technology, before the masses wake up to 3D (and the prices tumble).

So, if we're not biting ... who will?

Well it seems a good number of us are buying less popular TVs, so wada we know?

Intersting innit, how perceptions can be so wide of the mark. But then we know Sony and Pany have had to change things up a bit and that Sony were losing money for years on quite highly regarded TVs. Well, we do if we read the news section here.

Think i intended to put this post here, but still. it works here too i think.

Possibly, if I win the Lottery.

Mind you, Sony (as well as Panasonic) are putting a lot of effort into 3D television, with demo centres (centers) already being set up in the US, with us to follow soon ...

I'm not really interested, although I'm reserving full judgement as I haven't yet seen a new 3D film. If it's like that red gadget, (can remember having one but not what it was called!), it sounds garbage, sort of like when video games did parallax scrolling before they did proper 3D.

I definitely can't see me watching TV with glasses on all the time unless all the programmes eventually have to be viewed with them, (but I think I might just stop watching it in that case!), and I'm dubious about whether I'd even want it for films at all.

I'm also waiting before going projector until we move, but also now because I've got a nagging doubt about if 3D will be good, and think even if it takes off and I don't want it it will force conventional gear prices down.

I think it is a cynical ploy to get people upgrading yet again, but it's too soon, and I think they've possibly shot themselves in the foot by making some people worry about moving to HD from SD because 3D is waiting in the wings.
