WHICH TV TO BUY - HELP REQUIRED

I am looking at buying a new tv in the next couple of days and have narrowed my selection down to 2 tvs :-

Samsung UE46B8000

Philips 47PFL9664H

The tv will mostly be used to watch blu ray movies. Can anyone tell me which is the better tv ? and which tv people recommend me getting ?

Not Seen the philips in the flesh, but I own the 52" 7404, which is excellent with blu ray, black levels could be slightly better, but i believe the 9664 range are a lit better in this regard.

I had a 46B8000, it had to go back as it had 4 dead pixels, however, it was a very attractive tv, with great black levels, although the auto diming function, to create the deep blacks was really annoying, if something bright came on a dark scene, all of a sudden the whole pictures black level would rise.

So I know I probably have not been too helpfull, but I would go for the philips.

Given that the Samsung has just shot up to £1930, and the Philips is £1800, I'd go for the latter.

Doesnt the philips also have auto diming that can't be turned off? the older models had it.does this "new" one have it also?

The Philips 9664 has an ambient light sensor which lowers the brightness of the screen when the surrounding light darkens. You have the ability to turn this setting 'on' or 'off'.
