Just about to take delivery of a Solo Neo and a NAS Drive.

Currently all my computer based music is on iTunes on my MAC. I presume I can install iTunes on my NAS. Seen instructions to export iTunes to a NAS so I guess it installs iTunes on it?

Anyway, basically if possible I would like to be able to control the music through the Neo from an iPad.

Any advice on how to do this and any experiences that will help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks

Pretty sure you can't install iTunes directly onto the nas but it probably acts a server. I used these instructions when I set up my nas recently. http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/moving-your-itunes-library-to-a-new-hard-drive/

The problem is that you will need to have you PC on and iTunes running to access the content, but apples Remote app will control iTunes via iDevices...works a treat for me

Hope that helps

Chisy1 is right, you can't install iTunes on a NAS (not the way you're thinking of it anyway). You need to install a proper UPnP server like Twonky on it (if it doesn't have one already, many do), copy over your iTunes library and then buy the Arcam Songbook app (£17.49 from the app store).

What NAS is it?

Thanks for clearing that up guys - much appreciated.

Not actually ordered the NAS yet. Was considering a 2TB Zyxel NSA 310. Any recommendations greatfully received.

£160(ish) for the NAS - the DS212j (i.e. the base model) and then around £100(ish) for each 2TB harddisk...of course this is down to the horrible floods in Thailand. It's very user friendly and Apple friendly which suits me and my set up very well. But as John Duncan has outlined, there may be cheaper options out there for you.
