I am planning to purchase a new Plasma TV shortly. I am thinking of a Pioneer PDP-LX508D or one of the new Panasonics (PZ800 or PZ850). Do you expect the new Panasonics to be able to compete with the Pioneer for picture quality?

DO you know if Panasonic and Pioneer planning to install Freesat receivers with any of their new TVs?

Yes, Panasonic have three plasma models on the way with built-in Freesat: TH-42PZ81 (£1299); TH-46PZ81 (£1699); and TH-50PZ81 (£2099). First two will be out in June, the 50in July. We're hoping to get the 42in model in for First Test in our July issue, if the factory can deliver one in time.

And just by chance I bumped in to the man from Pioneer at our office this afternoon. He tells me one of the new Pioneer sets will have a satellite receiver built-in, but it won't be an official Freesat one.

From the Panny website the features seem to be the same as an 85 (but with freesat built in) but the set itself looks like an 80 - check this out

Only Panasonic, they have an exclusive agreement with Freesat until October, I believe.

Do you know if freesat is gonna be just like freeview, that you just plug into the normal areal or do you need to buy a sattelite dish and hd box if you want to watch channels in hd?
