The PMC's would be good - you may also want to consider ProAc, Neat. Boils down to your listening taste in the end, so an audition is a must - just my 2 pence worth!

Would agree with this and add Dali to the mix.

Don't forget Tannoy's Revolution Signature DC6Ts. Have a look at the November issue (out tomorrow) for a thorough explanation of their many charms.

I would be interested in hearing the dct6's as they would need to be massively better than the dct4's i heard to get anywhere near the neats or even dali's IMHO. You may have problems getting an audition and may have to phone tannoy direct so that they can get a set to a local hi fi store near you. The dct4's are awesome as an AV set up mind you.

I really like PMC (although I didn't hear them with Roksan) but they're not exactly below £1k

I've seen Epos in the shop which are cheaper but can't find much info on them, don't seem to be very popular.

Regarding tannoy I found them in the shop near Victoria Station in London a while ago (sorry don't remember the name) but I'm not sure if they do auditions, need to check this.

Yes, I'm in the same situation - budget up to a £1000. I'm confused somewhat. I've heard the Monitor Audio RS6's and RS8's and was pretty impressed with both (£600 & £800 ish respectively) - although to my ears I prefered the cheaper RS6's strangely.

I've also heard the Tannoy Revolution Signature DC6T's are meant to be good, but there is no shop anywhere near here to get a demo - seen those for about £850 online

Also what about the Mordaunt Short Mezzo 6's (£699), B&W 684's (£650), Neat Motive 2's (£900).

Has anyone got any opinions ? Should I go for the MS RS6's which I was pretty happy with ? Or is there something better out there for a few quid more ?

Let's not forget the Rega RS3's. (£698)

The old Rega R3's are excellent and the new RS3's are supposed to be in an entirely higher league according to reports I have read so far!

I auditioned the mezzo 6 with Roksan Kandy amp and cdp. I found them to be really good speakers. I posted a review in the 'your opinion' section of the WHFSAV review of them. Hope it helps you.

Since you liked the RS6, then I'd suggest buying them... and preferring the RS6 to the RS8 isn't strange... the difference between the two is that the RS8 is more bass heavy, which may or may not be a bad thing depending on your room size and musical preferences...

i had the same amp and cdp as you and ran with the rs6s but later upgraded to the rs8s - to me both sounded fantastic - i moved to the rs8s when i moved house and stereo was in a far bigger room - see if you can et a home demo on both

Thanks to all for your opinions so far, its good to get such knowledgeable views. I'm 80% sure I'll go for the MA RS6's - I just wanted to know if there was anything else out there that was a must audition pair before I finally spent my cash.

My missus likes the look of the Tannoy's best - but of course that's not the most important factor, especially if they're a complete mismatch....having said that, she doesn't like the look of the DALI's at all, so they're a definite no-no, even if they're a superb match

The Dali`s are not the prettiest but managed to "sneak" them past my missus!Hope you manage to get the compromise in your favour
