Hi,

I have a Sony 46X4500, Onkyo SR875 amp, and B&W MT30 speakers.

I am looking to replace my PS3 as the Blu Ray player. I am thinking of either the Sony 760 or the Sony BDPS5000 but there is a big price difference. I would love the S5000 but I am not sure if my system will be able to get sufficient benefit from the more expensive Sony to justify the price tag. Should I possibly be considering the Pioneer LX52 (or something else?) as an inbetween priced player. Any views would be appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

I feel you would notice a slight improvement, but whether the £600 price difference is worth it will come apparent to you after trying a demo. If it was my money i would opt for the 760, reason being it's a very good player and uses some features and componets it's more expensive bigger brother uses. Now if you where using say 60" screen or projector i would say go for it.Blu-ray players are still in it's early stages, yes they been around for a few years, and with so much to look forward to this year, you may even find some bargains.Save your money for further upgrades or lots of new films, but go and demo and tell us what you think. Denon 2500 is good value but transport only and slow loading times, and some forum members love Pioneer so check them out, or wait and see what Panny's new range is like.
