Can you give a few more details, like your budget, what the rest of your system consists of, and your musical taste.

Hi Mal,

Welcome to the forum, a nice old amp from the 80s - it's obviously done some sterling service! What inputs are you after, how much do you want to spend and are you looking to add contemporary features in your new amp not around when the Claymore first came out?

To help put things in some sort of perspective, here are some comparisons from a test in 1987:

Inca Tech Claymore...£315 (Gold Claymore £650 with gold feet £130)
Naim Nait............£241.50
Onix OA21............£279
NVA AP30.............£253
Musical Fidelity A1..£209
A&R Arcam Delta 90...£299
Audiolab 8000A.......£299
Myst tma3............£287.50
Mission Cyrus 11.....£299

The Naim, Inca Tech and NVA were the stars; with MF, Audiolab and Cyrus down as boring!

Still a quality amp - wouldn't rush into changing unless you've heard something modern that you actually consider better/as good

To start the ball rolling until we have further info, here are my suggestions. I'm assuming a budget of £1k to £1.5k.
Elrctrocompaniet PI-1..(£1425)
Musical Fidelity M3i...(£999)
Arcam A28..............(£999) or
A38 ex-dem (£995 from £1600) here: http://www.hifix.co.uk/hi-fi-separates/arcam/fmj-a38.html
