Where would be the best place to list my very rare DNM system.

It’s very hard to say. I don’t believe there are any dealers that sell it, and I’m unsure if Denis Morecroft is still around. He used to be a regular at shows with a family member iirc.

I used DNM cables about forty years ago. Do you know how old the items are? Do they work?

eBay is ok if you’re familiar with it, and you will get what someone is prepared to pay. There are also some traders who will buy kit, but this has a very limited market and I doubt they’d be interested. There are several Hifi forums with classifieds, and with patience you might find a buyer.

If the website is still current, it might be worth a call to them. http://www.dnm.co.uk/contacts.html

Dad bought from Dennis himself in 89. They were serviced in 2020. I hooked it all up this weekend but the speakers were not connected., Trying to find the cables which are somewhere. Dad's memory has gone so trying to put all the pieces together. Thanks for your advice I really appreciate it.

I wish I could help more. I’m in Monmouthshire and could help if you’re not to far away, for example with another pair of speakers, or a source if you’re wary of the Linn/Dynavector. And plenty of spare cables.

Is Denis still alive do you know?

I am going to contact them tomorrow.
The deck is a Linn Sondek LP12 with a Dynavector DRTXV-1
He has not played it since he got the new cartridge. Speakers are Bowers and Wilkins 705 S2. They too are straight out of the box and never played. He ordered new cables for them a few years ago but we cant find them now.
Im trying to learn this stuff on the fly as mum is wanting to sell everything along with his vast LP collection to raise cash for care.
I need to know everything works before I can look into a buyer but more importantly I would love for him to hear it all working one last time - i am hoping it might bring back some good memories for him.

I would look at Hifishark or indeed eBay but have no idea what you'd get for it.
Does your dad have any original documents?

Yes he still has all the docs, receipts and boxes for everything. It was all serviced in 2020 looking at the docs.
Sadly hi memory is failing fast so struggling to figure this all out for myself.
Thanks for the Hifishark tip

If you have all the interconnecting cables and the documentation connect everything up and then but lengths big any cheap speaker cables to connect them up also.
Can we assume the cartridge has already been fitted to the tonearm?

Yes. And I’m pretty sure I have connected very thing in the correct way.
It’s just the speakers now. I am heading back to South Wales next week where Dad is. I’m in London.
I have found some cables but they do not look like the correct connection for the speakers currently.
Mum says he ordered the correct set but he can no longer remember where they are.
I will search more next week and take pics of what I have.
I will post what I have then and maybe you might able to advise. No worries if not you have been incredibly helpful already. Thank you-thank you for your kind time and replies.

Give me a shout if you need assistance as I am in South Wales although about to head away from home for work for a week or so.
Speaker cables are simple things so shouldn't be difficult to link them into the system although without a photo of the rear of the power amp it would be difficult to advise what connectors to suggest, but at a guess I would say it's two pin DIN plugs

A quick thought. Keep any boxes and packaging as it’s much easier to sell then.

Yep. I still have all the original docs, invoices and boxes. 👍🏻

The idea of knowing where to post it means you need some idea of it's current worth.
This is always the tricky bit for hifi of this nature.
It is rare because it was expensive to buy when new and not everyone had that sort money to pay for DNM simplicity / lack of facilities
It's a bit like Tom Evans Audio amplification that you can still buy today.
It's only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it and, in the current economic climate, this may not be what you expect.
