When you've got a spare moment, can we have have a news story listing the Top 10 Top 10s of 2013 for Black Friday Christmas 2013?

What is it with you people? Once we used to have genuinely interesting news and analysis and stuff in the news channel, now we just seem to have endless lists of stuff already on the site which in turn links to other stuff on the site, which links to – well, you get the idea. Well, that and unashamed puff-pieces for products.

And as for all the Black Friday promotional stuff, is this another marketing/promotional bandwaggon you've jumped onto? Shame on you!

Now it seems you have to get the year into every headline (why?), so you tell us the best Blu-rays to buy in 2013: bit bloody late, isn't it, as we approach the beginning of the last month of the year? And wouldn't it be nice if the selection were a bit less predictable; much rather have some where I'd think 'I'd never have thought of that', not a list a 12-year-old with a pin could pick from Amazon's best-seller list.

Now a Best Blu-rays Coming in 2014, that would be genuinely interesting...

Yeah, grud forbid a hi-fi site should point out some hi-fi bargains for their customers...

Black Friday is an American thing.

It's the day after Thanksgiving, which is always on the last Thursday of November, and nearly everyone gets the Friday off as well. Everyone, that is, except retail workers. It's called Black Friday for a variety of reasons, but mostly because the stores are all jam-packed with people doing early Chrimbo shopping. Me? I stay well clear of any retail outlets whatsoever.

This year "Black Friday" actually started on Thursday (don't be surprised, the malls have had the Chrimbo decorations up since the Halloween ones came down). Like the January sales in the UK, people were camping out in the cold to be first in line for the "bargains" to be had, or the new PS4 (?) which is released today.

We went to Target last night for some last minute stuff for our Thanskgiving dinner, and people were literally queing up around the entire store waiting to get to the checkouts.

Funniest thing was, they had run out of the heavily discounted "HD" (mostly actually 720p) TVs they had advertised, and were selling at genuinely knock-down prices, so the sales guys were just putting out their stock of regularly priced TVs instead, and the muppet punters were still grabbing them as fast as the guys were unloading them, thinking they were knocked down in price.

Really? Must have missed all those discounts on amplifiers, CD players, speakers...

You'd find them in the Super-Fi part of the story but you're going to have to accept that the name of the magazine has been WHF Sound AND VISION for quite some time now.
