Should we have a “what vinyl are you listening to” thread in this section?
Anyone got any thoughts and want to start it off.
Or would WHF prefer us to carry on using the other one.
It might be an opportunity to also see what’s available

A bit late I guess but I have just bought a USA copy on Brunswick of That"ll be the day" by The Crickets which of course includes Buddy Holly.

I might be a bit biased but this makes most current pop sound like the dross that it is!!

Hmm, at the moment Deerhunter - Microcastle

I also got Gonjasuif - The Caliph's Tea Party, Om - Conference Live and F*ck Buttons - Tarot Sport today, and theyre all sounding fantastic.

The sound of the rain is also adding that late-night smokey silence atmosphere to the listening experience - bliss!

To be honest whatever I play in my house all of my X-Factor loving family start to cry.

Anyways, I'm having a Rush Sunday morning..

At the moment listening to a 1966 King and Roulette mono album from Sam and Dave. Unplayed for many years but I have just purchased an original Rega Planar 3 and with a service and new belts sounds fantastic.

I must say its a big thanks to the posters on the turntable forum that inspired me to go back to vinyl. It beats digital hands down

Last Wednesday; the first 3 records I could reach from my stashed away collection to check that my old Dual 505-2 deck was still functioning before part exchanging it yesterday at Unilet Sound & Vision for a Michell GyroDec with TechnoArm

(I blame Bretty for this, his new found enthusiasm for vinyl is sooooo infectious

Unfortunately, I need to add another wall shelf before I can put it all together, so my next bit of vinyl listening is likely to be in a week or two

The Toto was a £2.99 Charity shop purchase and in excellent nick.
They had a Melanie double album for £8.99. No idea what as they only Melanie song I know is Ruby Tuesday so I left that alone.
My BJH copy is getting old and perhaps needs replacing.

Beethoven Violin Concerto - Alfredo Campoli, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. HMV Concert Classics (Mono) 1963 pressing - 155g.

Cost me 99p a couple of weeks ago in Oxfam

It finished - so I'm now listeng to Joan Baez - Farwell Angelina (another 2nd hand purchase)

I've been listening to Mike and the Mechanics as well (still remember Rolf Harris welling up to 'Living Years'on GMTV), also found a nice copy of Roger Taylors 'Strange Frontiers' album

I am currently listening to Montrose- self titled album ''Montrose''. Rock 'n Roll all the way! and picked it up for £5.60

Another class album.

I'm sure I saw Montrose when they supported the Rolling Stones back in 73/74. My memory is a bit hazy these days

The 80's LP re-issue on Beggers Banquet Records knocks spots off the later CD which is full of so much filler it spoils the original album. "Dr.Sardonicus" next I reckon...

Ooh, 'Slave to the rhythm'. I'm jealous.

'Rumours' sounds fantastic. Love that album.

Led Zeppelin - Latter Days, never fails to make me want to dance!

Following the demise of Family, Roger Chapman and Charlie Whitney formed Streetwalkers in the 70's. They never pulled up many trees but were a decent enough live attraction. Roger Chapman's unique vocal style being very much of the "marmite" variety. However, this live album from that mid 70's period is a pretty good effort...

(If you're reading Bretty, it finally arrived on Saturday after a 2 week wait! Sounds pretty good - equivalent at least to what I'm getting thru the CDP (is that damning with faint praise? not sure). Noise floor is very low, that's for certain).
