What to upgrade??

Hi,

My setup at the moment is;

Marantz Cd 63se - highly modded

Cyrus 7 amp

Musical Fidelity X-Cans V3

Senn HD650, HD595, HD414

I want to upgrade but don't know where to start. I listen to headphones 99% of the time, hence no speakers listed (I do have missions setup but not sure what they are). The way I see it is I can either

1) Get a new CD player

2) Get a DAC

3) Mod the X-Cans with Rock Grotto's mod

What do you think? I have been out of touch with what's out. How much would I need spend to make a worthy CD player upgrade or is the DAC, something like the Beresford TC-7510 a better idea?

Please help me on the right road!

Depends on the mods to your Marantz; have they elevated it to a level of performance that the Beresford would struggle to deal with? If so, you might want to upgrade the DAC, or look to invest in a better CD player, but compare with your existing Marantz first (and once you've decided on a budget).
