Hey guys,

Ive spent months considering how to network my house. I currently now have a NAS Drive set up under the stairs and my next purchase is the Sonos Zoneplayer. We currently have in the house simple systems, bose sound dock, ipod speakers, etc, but now is the time for me to get serious.

In reading up on Sonos, i can save £100s of pounds by keeping it simple, therfore i have a bigger wedge to spend on speakers.

I will link the Sonos zone player with a Cat 5e patch lead from under the stairs, under the floor to the back of the TV where i will place the Zone player, I will control it from the Ipod App saving the cost of a controller, My next decison is speakers..., where do you start?

Im wanting Floorstanding speakers. I have currently seen the monitor Audio RX6, B&W 684s, the MEzzo 6 and the KEF IQ70.

Every shop has there favourite and I appreciate that it is personal taste that comes into it, but as i could end up travelling round several shops, I would like to try and narrow it down. I also have to get approval from my partner, as she likes "cute little speakers" so i need to make this as painless as possible to win her round?...,

As much as I like my music loud, i like good clean crisp music, even if its Rock, i like clarity, no mush, My friend has the bose lifestyle stytem, and on loud its very harsh, and a little bitter, no real depth.

I look forward to any feed back, comments or guidance on what to be looking out for.

Thank you

Lee.

Welcome to the forum!
Does it definately have to be floorstanders? My first thoughts were to not bother withe the zone player with the built in amp (saving some money) and getting some avi adm 9.1s which are active speakers, the added bonus of this is that you could also use it for other sources for example a set top box. The avis alsohave a built in dac which should make the mostof the sonos player. The money you were thinking for speakers plus the saving on the zone player would probably be about the same price as the avis. Sonos also recomended them on their site!

Depends on your budget of course but I'd be inclined to agree with Bay24 up to a point, the ZP120 is good but if you're after the best quality you can get, that's also upgradable, then it's not the way I'd go. Get a ZP90 and either the AVIs as suggested or a more traditional DAC/amp setup and then you can match the speakers to the quality of the amp. Otherwise the ZP120 is always going to restrict your choice of speakers, as good as it is.

my budget is approx £1000, i could stretch another £100 if needed.., ill have a look at your recomendations, Thans for the advice so far,

Lee.

Welcome lucksterlee. I can also recomend the Avi's as we have them connected to a cyrus dvd for music and films and also to Sky+ box and for my ipod. I have been thinking of sonos also, a zonebridge and zp90.
