For those who listen to their music though their PC what music player do you use? I use Clementine at the minute. I like Clementine because you can customise the interface and I can bing up the artist info as well as song lyrics.

Audirvana Plus linked to iTunes library. Love the remote App on my iPhone and iPad. Means I can also stream the library on my Mac Mini to my MacBook Pro for use in my second system.

I've used Media Monkey for a good 10 years now. It's the only music player that's truly allowed me to manage my music library using a Windows File Explorer type folder view as well as viewing by album or artist. It's not the prettiest application but does the job very well.

Just a shame they won't release it for the Mac because I haven't yet found a decent program for the mac that works well without having a dreaded iTunes library.

Foobar with Foobar Con on a tablet.

However, mostly I don't switch on the PC, preferring the fanless silence of a Raspberry Pi using Volumio. Volumio is very rudimentary but stable and usable. A Foobar Con interface for the Raspberry Pi would be my ideal, Volumio 2 is apparently on it's way, here's hoping.

I don't know what your experience of iTunes is like on a PC, but on a Mac I find it hard to fault. The integration with remote Apps for iPhone and iPad make it a breeze to use and very versatile.

+1

Not been able to fault it since we got our first Mac nine years ago.

I think it's mainly my past experience with it. In the early days it didn't play well with common sense.

I just wanted to organise my digital music in a folder structure. Folder for the artist/group and then inside that a folder for each album and you could never do that. Also, most of my music has been ripped as FLAC which iTunes won't play.

I sometimes browse my music within folder structure in MediaMonkey rather than by album or artist.

I just like to know exactly what is going on in the background and know that whatever program I use isn't going to mess around with renaming or moving my files and this is what iTunes always used to do in the past. With 220Gb of music it's a scary thought to think that all my hard work might get undone by a media program.

I completely understand why people like and use iTunes but it's just not for me. Also, I don't own any "i" devices. Just a macbook and android phone. Mediamonkey will sync my music with my phone. Not sure iTunes will do that with Android.

I used to use Foobar but have moved to Musicbee recently as it offers a nicer interface. It also offers more control over tagging and renaming.

I am now experimenting with Plex as it links to my chromecasts and allows easy remote control from my phone. Also looks really good on the projector whether for movie streaming or music.
