Can someone please explain in detail how i can connect my PS3 to the Denon 1909 to get the best sound possible.

At the moment on the ps3 on Screen Menu when watching say the Dark knight it says it's running at Dolby True Hd 5.1 CH 48HZ 1.8 MBPS , But on the Denon 1909 it says 2 Ch Stereo, Iv set the Sound to LPCM on the PS3 Options ,

In the PS3 Sound settings i have tryed changing Audio output settings to : HDMI and if i do this i cant get any sound ? Im sure i need to select this option as thats the only way to get True HD as Optical cable doesnt Transfer that much data. Anyone know what i need to do ?

Please advise in as much detail as you can, Thanks Jason

Check your PS3 setting with the ones listed here - the main ones for you I think are the ones on the Audio Output settings menu i.e. make sure all the boxes are ticked for the PCM modes. If this isn't working, ensure your Denon is in the correct mode (don't have one so can't tell you what it's called, but generally there is an Auto mode which should switch to the correct format depending on what's being received).

Yes, mate, you have got it set up correctly.

Your PS3 is internally decoding the lossless audio and sending the decoded data to your Denon A/V Receiver. On your Denon A/V Receiver's display while you are watching a movie via PS3 with lossless audio, there might be a little box saying "PCM" or "Linear PCM" or "LPCM" or something like that.

It is absolutely correct that the display says "Multi CH IN". You are definitely listening to High Definition lossless audio now.

Congratulations!

Dan.
