Hello all.

I have recently purchased a Archos 605WiFi love it. Great sound, Great Picture, Excelent portablility IMO. I want some headphones to use with this. I have look at so many now I've confused myself. I listen to all music types and watch filmes so need to handle bass well, ideally block out noise as I travel with work by air, train, tube, taxi.

Etymotic ER-4P
Sony MDREX700
Sony MDREX90
Bose In Ear
Shure E2C
Shure SE530
Shure SE420

I would like to stick to a budget of around £100, but if the headphones are worth the extra then Im happy to spend the money now rather then buying another set in a years time.

If anyone could offer some advise Id be very greatful, shed some light on this.

Thank you!

I would be wary of spending too much on headphones for your portable for one reason - every pair I've had in the last four years has ended up breaking at the headphone jack (except the current pair, obviously). One pair of Shures and two pairs of Sennheisers. I've therefore gone done the route of getting CX300s as cheaply as I can, on the basis that if they break (or fill up with wax - no, really), I buy another pair.

The '300s also have the advantage of sounding at least as good (from memory, since I couldn't do an A/B) as the E2cs I had, and better (on a train, anyway) than the............whichever the closed back Sennheiser over-ears are - PX200? I use them for both music and films and they're great.

I currently use Sony Fontopia Headphones from years back and last year bought Sennheiser PMX 100's. Really like the sound these produce but they are not suitable for train/plane and tube. I can hear everything around me and everyone around me can hear them!!

I have these and think they give an excellent sound and are very good noise isolators - when wearing them on the bus, I can see all the kids messing around and shouting, but all I can hear is music - bliss!

Personally I don't think they lack bass, but I have to say, if I'm listening to my iPod, I'm generally not listening for every nuance of sound like I would be if listening at home...
