I wouldn’t have thought streaming was a con, you can get great deals for 4K films these days. I sold my 4K Blu-rays and music Blu-rays to CEX for £400, that’s what I call striking a good deal. I have kept some of my DVDs though because they are worthless, so I agree it makes no sense just to take them to the tip.

Some of my DVDs I have never been able to get on Blu-ray. My collection consists mainly of music DVDs, which you get free on YouTube these days, but sound quality can be hit and miss. So I will keep them for those reasons.
