What did I do wrong? (cables)

Hi everyone

Just bought the Panny PZ85 and yes it is great. Now I have a problem. I have 1 HDMI cable from my Lg HDD/DVD recorder to the tv and a Coaxial cable from the Lg HDD/DVD to my amplifier. Now this is the problem:

If I put the Dvd player in a PCM mode the sound will go to the tv but I dont have 5.1 multi channel from the amp. If I put the dvd player in a Bitstream mode I have the 5.1 but have no sound on the tv. Can´t I have both???? There must be a solution but I can´t find.

Can anyone help??

You didn't do anything wrong - it's just a switching foible.

Can you let me know which Panasonic PZ85 it is - ie screen size -, which LG model and which amp, and I'll try to find a solution for you.

The Panasonic is the 42 model TH-42PZ85E since I live in Portugal and the Lg HDD/DVD is LG RH188HS region free that I have connected to a Sony STR-DB840 model. I know that the Amp is a bit old but it still works find. Qed HDMI from dvd to tv and Coaxial profilgold from dvd to amp.
