Dear all

As a rookie in regards to home cinema equipment I hope to get a few good pieces of advice before I invest:) I have read several posts in the forum but still would like you to comment specifically to my questions below if you can find a minute or two. Thanks in advance.

After jumping back and forth between the KEF KHT2005.3 and the KEF KHT3005 system I think we have settled on the 3005 (the criteria is that the speakers need to be discrete and wall mounted)

So my question is what AV < 500 £ we need to get in order to power up the 5.1 3005 system - I do not foresee the need to increase the amount of speakers in the setup in the future.

We need the AV to be good at music too as we will use the setup as our primary music source for our apartment. We listen to both jazz, rock, pop - and are focused on good performance in both bass, mid-range and treble register. And normally I really like the sound of UK speakers such as monitor-audio and mission.

We currently have our eyes on the following models

1) Onky TX-SR608

2) Pioneer vsx1020-R

3) Yamaha RX-V667

What would you recommend for the setup - I have currently not found a place in Copenhagen, Denmark where I can demo them :-(

Further i would like to get your inputs to whether it makes sense to opt for a wireless setup and whether the AV can be used for multi room audio. If multi room audio is too complex to setup I prefer to invest in a separate stereo system for the dining room.

thanks in advance,

Anders

Hi Nick

Thanks for the heads up! I read that the yamaha is more subtle than the Onkyo - thus giving less "the live feel". Is you take calibrated with our need to use it for music playing as well?

thanks again

I'm using a Onkyo SR608 with Kef KHT3005SE currently.
Notice that you will be using the setup to play music.

Only comments from me : the sub is not that good (low mid & bass too hollow).
Buy the 5x egg speakers & get a B&W ASW608 or 610 sub isntead.
