Hi,

I want to buy a set of Diamond 225's or Diamond 11.2's. Both are similar in size, but according to the specs they are quite different (11.2 is much heavier, but the 225 has a larger woofer). Unfortunately I can't audition them together. Does anybody have experience with either? Any information is very welcome.

I will be using them as desktop speakers placed about 5 feet from each other playing at moderate soundlevels at most. I'm looking for a full bodied sound with a laid back tweeter. On my desktop I use a vintage Marantz 1060 amp or a vintage Marantz 2015 (Baby Marantz) receiver.

Looking forward to your comments.

Kind regards

Peter

stereophile highly rates the diamond 225 https://www.stereophile.com/content/wharfedale-diamond-225-loudspeaker

There shouldn't be much difference in max bass, extension, spl, sensitivity, max power handling according to rated specs

You should consider listening to Kef Q350 https://www.whathifi.com/forum/hi-fi/kef-q350s-sounds-too-dark

Hi Gasolin,

Thanks for your reply. The Stereophile review sparked my interest in the Diamond 225. I guess the Diamond 11.2 hasn't been around long enough for a serious review.

The Kef Q350 is above my budget. Never tried Kef though. I've always had a soft spot for Wharfedale and have had them in my set since I was about 16 years old (delta 50 and later on 505.2, 507.2 an Evo 2-10).

Kind regards

Peter
