HI All,

As you may have guessed from the title, this is my first post on this forum so please be gentle.

Firstly, thanks to you all for all of your invaluable forum posting. As a newbie to high end AV equipment your posts have been an incredible help in deciding which direction I want to go in.

I currently run a 46" Pioneer Plasma, Sky HD a PS3 and an all in one JVC DVD surround sound unit. The JVC has done me proud but while were re-plastering the living room ive managed to convince the better half that it would be a good time to replace our all in one surround sound sytem for something that works. Ive demo'd the MA RX6 centre and floor standers for the front which I absolutely love. Space is an issue for the rear speakers but having demo'd a variety of satelite speakers I cant say that i'm a big fan. They just dont seem to do justice to the Rx6's. I've decided on what I think is a pretty good compramise which is the MA BR1's for the rear. Not quite as great a sound as say the MA Rx1 but far better than any satelite ive tried. Initially due to Neibour issues we tried to get away without a sub but it very quickly became aparent that to do justice to the system we would without doubt, deffinately need one. We decided to plumb for the Rel T3, small and punching way above its size.

As for the receiver my original budget was around £500 which allowed me to demo units such as the Denon 1911 and Onkyo 608. To my novice ears they both sounded pretty good. That was until I stupidly agreed to listen to the Marantz sr6004 and the Denon 2311 at which point the £500 price mark recievers started to sound a touch pointless. Im not too bothered about 3D and tried the Denon 2310 but to my ears it wasnt a patch on the Marantz for music, plus I would like to future proof the reciever as much as poss. It seems that if I want to get the best from the Rx6's im looking at spending around the £800 mark for a decent reciever.

So i'm considering the Marantz sr6005 or sr5005.

Obviously this is quite a large outlay so Im keen to get as much opinion and advise as I can regarding the recievers and the rest of my setup before I hand over my hard earned. Any help will be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Karl.

depending on your flooring try mounting your sub on a subdude or similar to decouple it from the floor I have had to do this and it makes a great difference even on a concrete slab.

I use BR1 for rears, don't think you'll be disappointed. Also I have Monitor Audio speakers with a Marantz AV amp and to my ears the two makes combine well.

Karlb:Thanks guys, appreciate your help.

Karl. I have the RS version of your speakers and I run the Radius R90s as my rears. You should definitely look in to the Radius HD (Monitor Audio's later model of the R90). They are beautiful small speakers but are very good. I would suggest they will match up better than the Bronze.

If you can stretch to it i would recommend giving the Onkyo TX-NR808 a little listen, it is £1000 but in my opinion is well worth the money, I bought mine when it first came out and am happy to see it won the supertest this month also.

Ultimately though any of the amps you have suggested will give you a huge improvement over your current setup and will add a whole lot more to your av experiences.
