Hi I have got some cambridge audio s30's but due to the layout of my room I have not got any room to get stands for them. They are on top of my wardrobe at the minuit, which is probably the most resonant piece of furniture I could have them on! My tv is at the other side of the room and having the speakers behind you when using them on the tv isnt the best. My only other option is to get some wall brackets should I even bother or will they sound terrible they have rear bass ports aswell it is reccomended that they are at least 8cm from the wall behind

- Not realy ideal!

Would be great if anyone has any suggestions as to whether I should even bother with wall brackets

Many Thanks

if they boom too much when against the wall try bunging the rear ports. my old dynaudios needed putting against the wall with the rear port bunged.

I am sure little shelves with brackets will be fine (remember a packet of Blu-Tack too!) Just make sure when you make/buy the shelves you allow for 8cm clearance. I don't how heavy the speakers are (or how big) or how good your walls are. Might be an idea to make them the correct dimensions for any upgrade you are planning also.

Use the appropriate fixings (rawl-plugs or those spring loaded thingies or whatever) for the type of wall you are mounting them on. Use a spirit level (L - R as well as front to back) and blu-tack to stop them wandering around on the little shelf.

Chebbs completely off topic, but why have you got a Beresford DAC as well as a Naim CDP? It is a leading question -> the PC based lossless vs CDP debate sorry...

I use the Beresford DAC for internet radio, iTunes downloads, BBC iPlayer, youtube, Last FM etc from my laptop and for high quality Freeview radio from the optical digital audio output of my DVD/HDD recorder. (And DVD and TV sound through the stereo.)

I use the Naim CD5i for CDs.

Both boxes are excellent at what they do and I like to listen to more things than just CDs hence the Beresford DAC.
