I'm going to be moving to a new house in the next month or so and have managed to allocate a cinema room in the new place. I want to mount the TV on the wall but think it is plasterboard. I have a Samsung LCD TV which is pretty heavy. I remember reading a News article a little while ago that was about wall mounts that were designed for use on plasterboard.

Anyone remember who made them?

Thanks.

There are a number of excellent cavity wall fixings now. If you are really worried you may be able to get to the back of the plasterboard - some replastering unless you paper the wall - using a wooden batten. I should ask a good DIY friend to take a look - Google some fixings and check out their rated weight limits.

Though you could use any TV mount, as long as you use the correct type of fixings.

Am I wrong in thinking this solution has the 'convenience' of some variation of position but it still uses the same fixings to whichever wall you have? I suggest a good spirit level !

Use these to screw into the plaster board.

I would recommend these http://www.drylinepro.com/, I used them for a near 40kg plasma on a dot and dab wall, and they were as solid as a rock.

The last few turns of the screw inspired absolute confidence in their quality.

if its a large tv and its a stud wall i would cut plasterboard out same size a your bracket and fix some 4x2" battens between the 2 vertical timbers(studs) and replasterboard. this is the only way i would do it especially if the tv is to be pointed downward even slightly as this puts increased load on the top fixings, plasterboard fixings are really only reliable if the force is exerted vertically. And for a lttle work you will know that your tv is safe
