Hello all. I'm looking to upgrade my plasma at the end of the year and need to decide on a truely outstanding tv that will be still good in 5 years. So what are the chances of picking up a panasonic plasma bargain? Do you think it's worth investing in the VT model? Another question is are this years panasonic plasmas in short supply? Basically I want an outstanding set that will stand the test of time. Thanks.

I look at both closely and think I would go for the VT65. It is slightly better to me. Yep, both are well made. The expert opinion is that both are very close in terms of picture quality though. The VT65 has better sound quality though.

Check both out if you can...but I would go for the GT-60 the VT is not worth the extra money, when they are so close, but either way you will not be disapointed with any of them. The money you have left buying the GT can go towards a Blu-ray or discs etc, Plus you will get a 5-year Warantee, some dealers are even offering 7-years so you will have peice of mind.. 8)

Hi

I am in the same position. I compared both sets next to each others and read the detailed reviews done in several websites. Conclusion is that difference in price between the two doesn't justify the incremental improvement in image quality and other features. I would love to get the VT as i find it nicer in term of design too and extra feature. However the GT is the best value by far. It is like deciding between a Golf SE and a golf GTI (the ZT being the Golf R).

I have looked and you can get a GT60 for 1200 plus extras like blu ray or 6 years guarantee. The price is a given and the latter is subject to negotiation or coming promotions. My objective is to try get it slightly below that price but going to be tough (naim qute2 interest me so bulk buy may do it). The VT is around £1670. THATs a serious amount of money for a 50 inch.

GT doesnt go beyond 50 inch so a VT is a must if you want bigger screens. If you can afford it, why not? However, considering the coming 4K and OLED which is expected to mature (mean by that getting into real price territory) in 2-4 years? is that a reasonable investment? I concluded the GT60 will be the TV to have for now...

Whatever you decide, you will have a great TV that will deliver hours/years of pleasure...Enjoy
