Volume settings

I don't tend to listen to a lot of computer based music, but giving Spotify Premium a trial run, so... does it matter whre I set the volume - I can change the volume within Spotify, on the soundcard volume panel, and on the PC (Altec Lansing) speakers themselves...

My understanding is that setting the volume to maximum on Spotify and the PC to maximum helps to reduce distortion. So you would do that and control the final volume with the Altec Lansing speakers.

I think that is to do with altering the volume in the analogue domain is better than when the signal is still digital.

If these are AL USB speakers this is the right strategy. Not if they are active analog speakers, setting the output of a pc at maximum and using analog output is usually not a good idea - the amplification of a pc is very poor.
